After a long hiatus my [#weeklymusictoot] is back.

My original [weeklymusictoot][] was a fairly simple shell script that took a list of the albums played, logged by a [cmus][] script, and posted it to my Mastodon feed.

This was working great for a long time. Recently, however, due to various client commitments I have been away from my own office and my main workstation. This has meant that I have been using my [Navidrome][] music server a lot more and using `cmus` a lot less.

Therefore I decided to rewrite my script and create a new [wmt][].

Written in python, this script connects to my Navidrome server, pulls the list of albums played since the previous Monday, and posts it to my Mastodon feed; the same as the previous version.

The main difference in the listing is that the original shell script would sort the list from most to least played albums. I have not (yet) done the same with the new version, the list is in the order the albums were played.

A benefit of pulling the data from my Navidrome server is a more accurate list of my weekly music, as it includes anything listened to on my mobile devices. I have also decided to move the #weeklymusictoot to post on Sunday evening instead of Friday, covering a full week.

In the future I would like to try and combine both versions as I still use `cmus` when at my main workstation.

The first post went out a [few moments ago][].
